STAP関連の記事から使えそうな表現です(1)

先日、理研の最終報告のニュースを取り上げている英米メディアの記事を一部紹介しました。

その際、時間がなく端折っていたのですが、下記の単語等はこの際まとめて覚えたほうが良いと思い、まとめますね。

私自身はcharlantan　charlatanは、過去見たような・・・、でも、覚えていませんでした。

また今回の理研の記者会見でも今後のポイントとなっていますが、「不服申し立て」では次のようり、file a complaint, appealといった表現が使われていますね。

The investigation’s head said the paper “amounts to phony research or fabrication.” He added: ”The manipulation was used to improve the appearance of the results.”
Obokata, for her part, denied the month-long investigation’s allegations. “I will file a complaint against Riken as it’s absolutely impossible for me to accept this,” AFP reports her saying in a statement.

上記抜粋で、引用部分("...")でピリオドやカンマは先に来て、クオーテーションマークで閉じられていることに注意してください。アメリカ英語ではこうなります。

The AP said of the investigation’s findings “They said researcher Haruko Obokata, the lead author of the paper in Nature, had manipulated or falsified images of DNA fragments used in the research.” and they quoted Shunsuke Ishii, the head of the committee set up to investigate allegations, “The manipulation was used to improve the appearance of the results”.

Obokata will appeal.

Obokata’s Japanese collaborators and mentors were not entirely spared in the RIKEN report either according to the same AP article:

またこの言葉は記事ではなく、Guardianの記事に対するコメントで出ていましたが、ついでなので。きつい言葉ですね。
